Linens N Love

Linens Donated: 100

More than your run of the mill community service group, Linens N Love believes that volunteering shouldn't equate to "grunt work." Instead, volunteers are encouraged to make a difference in the community by participating in our Service Leadership program, in which volunteers take initiative reaching out to local charities and coordinating tours. As usual, after every tour and delivery, students are encouraged to write a reflective paragraph about their experience.

Today, we have John, age 8, who has decided to share his experience with the world! John has said that he was "happy to see the blankets going to a good place" and that he is "thankful for having a good house and nice mom and dad."

Thank You Letter from Attention Homes:

Dear May,

Thank you for your donation of bath towels and wash cloths for our shelter that you valued at $50.00 on08/25/2016. In-Kind donations are critical for us to continue to serve the young people of Boulder and we are very grateful for your support.

With school back in session, Attention Homes renews its focus on the importance of education with every young person we serve in our programs. Whether that involves maintaining current place of enrollment or re-enrolling in school, transferring for a better fit, obtaining their GED or pursuing secondary education opportunities; we are there to support each client.

Andrea has been staying at our residential program, Chase House, since May. She came with her younger sister and brother from a home in Boulder that was deemed unsafe. When her case worker told Andrea that they were all going to be placed at Chase House, her biggest fear was having to switch schools. As a high school junior, staying close to friends, joining the cheerleading squad, and attending her homecoming dance were paramount to minimizing the stress in her life. Luckily, Andrea has been able to remain at the same school without any interruption and will attend her homecoming dance this Fall once she finds the perfect dress.

“It’s important for us to provide a space where kids can maintain some sense of normalcy. Even if everything else in their life is uncertain, at least we can provide a stable place for them to learn, grow, and just be regular kids.” – Peter, Chase House Case Manager

Did you know that BVSD saw 313 homeless students in the 2015-16 school year and SVVSD counted 531 students experiencing homelessness? Attention Homes continues to be a place where youth in crisis can find a reliable support system and a safe place to live.

Consider giving on a monthly basis in the following ways:

Make sandwiches for Street Outreach
Host a Sock Drive
Make a monthly meal for kids at Chase House
