On October 23rd, 2016, Linens N Love travelled to Orange to meet furry friends and deliver 620 gently used bath towels, courtesy of the Comfort Inn and Suites of Murrieta.
After unloading the boxes of linens, students gathered to do an ice breaker activity, followed by an ice cream social. Students sat in the shade while enjoying some ice cream sandwiches, courtesy of Alliance Hospicality Corporation. After getting to know one another, we began a fun and exciting scavenger hunt to familiarize ourselves with the shelter!
Our tour was led by two amazing volunteer tour guides! A huge thank you goes out to the OC Animal Care staff and volunteers for making this happen.
"I enjoyed seeing the happy wagging tails of the dogs and the cute 'meows' of kittens and cats. I appreciated the tour and how much the staff cares for the animals, including the fact that they take in more than just dogs and cats but also snakes, rabbits, and geckos," reflected Sanya D. "This experience has only further encouraged me to take a big part in the Linens N Love club as I know that I now have the opportunity to help animals and people."
"Seeing this shelter in a tour has really changed the way I see animals," said another student. "I adopted my dog from the OC Animal Shelter...it's great to give back to them by donating all these linens."
Britney, another student volunteer, wrote, "This experience meant a lot to me because I'm a huge animal lover and to give back to a species I love helping is amazing. It makes me a better person giving back!"
Though many of our students initially were unfamiliar with each other, they bonded over the course of a few hours over the same passion for helping others!
A big hug and thank you to the OC Animal Care volunteers and staff, Alliance Hospitality Corporation, Comfort Inn & Suites, our amazing student leaders, and the parents who helped pick up and deliver these boxes of donations! You are amazing!!!
