Located in beautiful San Francisco, the Sobrato House is a place dedicated to women seeking a home beyond just a shelter.

"We try to help these young women get back on their feet," explained our tour guide, Monica. "Many of them often come looking for shelter for themselves and a kid. And it's hard to think about college when you're focusing about getting a roof over your head."

Many of these women get back on their feet with the shelter's assistance. There are posters and resources teaching young women how to accumulate money in savings accounts and prepare for job interviews. The living room is an airy, open space loaded with games and entertainment.

"It doesn't look like a homeless shelter," said Monica. "We try to provide a home and a place of safety and refuge for our ladies and youth, and we encourage them to consider this place like a home so long as they participate in our educational programs and let us help them get out of these situations."

A special thank you to Monica, Viri, and Tesla for the wonderful experience as we discovered the Sobrato House, and a thank you to the Marriott of San Francisco for the 300+ donations of plush blankets and bedsheets!
